Qapacity distinguishes discovery from verification.

A facility appearing on Qapacity does not mean that Qapacity has certified, accredited or approved that facility.

How facility information is sourced

Facility profiles combine information supplied directly by providers with information obtained from identified public sources — for example provider websites, universities, research organisations and public bodies. We do not indiscriminately scrape websites, and imported sources must respect applicable licences, database rights, terms and copyright.

Every source records its type, a URL or reference where appropriate, the date it was accessed and, where required, the basis on which we use it.

  • Provider verifiedConfirmed by the organisation that operates the facility.
  • Official facility sourceThe facility’s own published material, such as its services page.
  • Public institutional sourcePublished by a university, research organisation or public body.
  • Qapacity researchCompiled by Qapacity from identified sources.
  • Customer reportReported by a customer from their experience.
  • ImportedImported from a dataset whose licence permits it.
  • UnknownThe origin has not been recorded.

Verification states

Each capability, equipment item, process and restriction on a profile carries one of these states. The badge you see in the product is shown here.

Verification states and their meaning
StateWhat it means
UnverifiedNo supporting source or provider confirmation.
Source supportedSupported by an identified source. Not yet confirmed by the provider.
Provider verifiedThe provider has confirmed this information. Qapacity has not certified it.
ConflictingSources disagree. Confirm with the provider.
StaleThis information may be out of date. Confirm with the provider before relying on it.
WithdrawnNo longer asserted.

There is no “Qapacity certified” state. Missing information is shown as Unknown rather than assumed. Information past its review date is flagged: “This information may be out of date. Confirm with the provider before relying on it.”

AI use

Qapacity may use artificial intelligence to help structure technical requirements, extract information from documents, suggest capability relationships, summarise information and assist with drafting.

AI suggestions are labelled AI suggestion — review before accepting and are not treated as confirmed until a person accepts them. AI never certifies compatibility, invents facility capability, marks unknown information as confirmed, approves restricted access or overrides provider restrictions.

See AI use.

Data provenance

Capability information keeps its source, source type, the dates it was observed, checked and verified, who verified it, its verification state and its history. When information changes, a new version is recorded rather than silently overwriting the old one.

Information in requirements and workflows also records where it came from:

  • User supplied
  • Provider supplied
  • Source extracted
  • AI suggestion — review before accepting
  • System derived

Security

Access is controlled by role on the server, every organisation’s data is isolated from other organisations, significant actions are recorded in audit logs and documents are only served to authorised users.

Provider responsibility

Facility profiles may contain information supplied directly by providers as well as information obtained from identified public sources. Providers are responsible for information they submit or verify. Qapacity may identify inconsistencies or stale information but does not independently certify a provider's technical capability unless expressly stated under a separate service.

Providers retain control over site safety, equipment operation, training, sample acceptance, hazard assessment and experimental procedure. Restrictions are shown on profiles using explicit states:

  • Restriction unknown
  • Provider restrictions apply
  • Eligibility confirmation required
  • Potential export-control review
  • Security review required

Customer responsibility

Information provided through Qapacity is intended to support infrastructure discovery and access planning. Facility capabilities, availability and suitability can change and may depend on details not represented on the platform. Users should obtain appropriate confirmation from the relevant provider before relying on a facility for a specific technical requirement.

Customers are responsible for the accuracy of the requirements they confirm, for deciding what information to share with providers, and for their own legal, export-control, safety and eligibility obligations. Qapacity does not determine that access is legally permissible merely because a facility matches technically. Additional eligibility review may be required.

Corrections

Every public facility page has a Suggest a correction action, and providers can Claim this facility to manage their profile. Corrections are reviewed against the evidence supplied; the evidence and the reason for the decision are preserved.

  • Submitted
  • Under review
  • Accepted
  • Partially accepted
  • Rejected
  • Superseded

Conflicts

When sources disagree, we do not pick one silently. The item is marked Conflicting and you are asked to confirm with the provider. A provider’s verification can resolve the conflict; the earlier versions remain in the history.

Incident reporting

To report a security concern, inaccurate or harmful content, a privacy issue or misuse of the platform, use the contact page and choose “General enquiry”. Start your message with “Security”, “Privacy” or “Content” so it reaches the right person. For incorrect facility information, use “Suggest a correction” on the facility page.
